It’s funny how information sorts itself out after a while. New information has an assimilation period that one day can present itself as clear-as-a bell.
I know enough from experience that if it isn’t making sense or worse yet, is starting to hurt, then walk away. Ten minutes or a day. It’s amazing how much clearer something can be if you’ve allowed for some processing time!!!

still sidetracked

what is time? what are deadlines?
I have been busy with common tasks and dutifully following a particular sidetrack. by the time I meet up to where I meant to be, three weeks will have passed. but I will be better prepared for my arrival.

should I pick up the pace, shave minutes off ponderings or distractions?
probably!

except I’m almost there! Ready to tackle Drupal Theming with a vengeance!!!!

You know how it goes. You’re looking something up and it reminds you or otherwise prompts you to read an article that looks interesting or informative so you flag it as Read Later and continue with your current task.

Another option a little less disciplined would be to call up the 80/20 rule and say this won’t take long. I’ve been wanting to take a couple of quick notes on types of Content Management Systems and I suppose that a definition of the Information Lifecycle was indeed inevitable!

Enterprise Content Management

The term enterprise content management refers to solutions that concentrate on providing in-house information, usually using internet technologies.

The components and technologies of the ECM model include:

capture
manage
store
preserve
deliver

The model includes in the manage category five traditional application areas:

document management (DM) (using databases for administration and retrieval),
collaboration (joint, simultaneous, controlled information processing),
web content management (WCM) (including web portals),
records management (RM) (archive and filing), and
workflow/business process management (BPM).

Information Lifecycle Management

Information Lifecycle Management refers to a wide-ranging set of strategies for administering storage systems on computing devices.

Basically there are five phases in the ILM continuum. These are:

Creation and Receipt
Distribution
Maintenance
Disposition

I intend to refer back to these definitions especially if I get the feeling I am being sidetracked…

Must wrap my head around Drupal Theming

When I first looked at Blogging Tools I wasn’t really interested. I had been using my own CSS styles for years and preferred the from scratch method of HTML. But now that I’m approaching Drupal from a CMS point of view it’s time to awaken my inner artist and dive straight in to Drupal Theming!!!

Focus in your direction

I’ve never been one to stick to the path. Easily distracted I can turn on a flash. While I pride myself in good navigational skills, I’m beginning to see that focus and direction are what build expertise.

I recently read the analogy of a quantity of water if poured over the ground will run uncontrolled doing little to no good. That same water if poured into a trough will flow together and with direction will be of most benefit.

Not to say that it can’t be a big trough!

New Year… fresh start
